As a classical singer, I'm often asked to sing for specific occasions - weddings, funerals, birthday parties, anniversary events, etc. and I'm sometimes at a loss for a variety of options to offer the event host. Language requirements are occasionally given or secular versus non-secular specified; classical versus contemporary has also come up. While there are aria and art song sites that list texts, vocal ranges and other pertinent details, they are not often separated by useful categories or tagged in any way.
My challenge would be for someone to create a sort of Wiki repository where fellow singers could enter repertoire suggestions that are appropriate for specific occasions, languages, moods, events and venues, among other things. Song titles and other data could be input and then tagged, and the database could be searchable by criteria the end user requests to be returned. This would be tremendously helpful to all classical singers and the people who hire them, perhaps opening up a world for occasional music beyond the typically chosen pieces. Living composers could also submit their works for review, giving them greater exposure in the industry.
